Leg 2

How to Use the Teaser Calculator
Using the teaser calculator takes less than a minute. Start by selecting the number of teams in your teaser (2, 3, or 4) and the teaser points you want to buy (6, 6.5, or 7 — the three standard options offered by most US sportsbooks). Enter your stake in dollars.
For each leg of the teaser, enter an optional team name and the original point spread as listed at the sportsbook (use negative numbers for favorites, e.g. -7 for a 7-point favorite, and positive numbers for underdogs, e.g. +3). The calculator shows the adjusted spread for each leg after the teaser points are applied.
Click Calculate Teaser Payout to see the teaser odds (American format), your total payout if all legs win, and your profit. Standard Vegas teaser odds are used — the same lines offered at major US sportsbooks including DraftKings, FanDuel, and BetMGM.
The Formula
Teaser payouts are determined by a fixed odds table, not a formula — sportsbooks price teasers based on the statistical advantage the extra points provide. Standard NFL teaser odds at Vegas-standard lines:
| Teams | 6 Points | 6.5 Points | 7 Points |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2-team | -110 | -120 | -130 |
| 3-team | +180 | +165 | +150 |
| 4-team | +300 | +275 | +260 |
Adjusted spread = Original Spread + Teaser Points
For example, if you tease the Chiefs -10 by 6 points, their adjusted spread becomes -4. If you tease the Raiders +1 by 6 points, their adjusted spread becomes +7. All legs must win for the teaser to pay out (same as a parlay).
Total payout = Stake × Decimal Odds
Profit = Total Payout − Stake
Practical Examples
Example 1 — Classic 2-Team 6-Point NFL Teaser
- Chiefs -10 → adjusted to -4 (buy 6 points)
- Bills -3 → adjusted to +3 (buy 6 points)
- Teaser odds: -110
- Stake: $110
- Payout if both legs win: $210 (profit: $100)
The 6-point teaser is extremely popular in the NFL because it crosses the key numbers 3 and 7 — the two most common margins of victory. Moving from -10 to -4 crosses both key numbers, significantly increasing your probability of winning that leg.
Example 2 — 3-Team 6-Point Teaser
- Eagles -7 → adjusted to -1
- Cowboys -3 → adjusted to +3
- Ravens -2 → adjusted to +4
- Teaser odds: +180
- Stake: $100
- Payout if all three legs win: $280 (profit: $180)
NFL Teaser Strategy — The Wong Teaser
Professional sports bettor Stanford Wong popularized a specific teaser strategy that targets only teams with spreads of +1.5 to +2.5 or -7.5 to -8.5 in a 6-point teaser. These lines cross the key numbers of 3 and 7, providing the maximum statistical edge. A 2-team 6-point Wong teaser on two qualifying lines is historically one of the few bet types that can be executed with near-breakeven or positive expected value against standard -110 pricing.
